Position Summary:
Roy Jorgensen Associates, Inc. is seeking a summer IT / Cybersecurity Intern. The ideal candidate is pursuing a degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, with an interest in beginning a career in enterprise IT, cybersecurity, security operations, or technology governance.
This individual will work closely with the IT department on a variety of operational, cybersecurity, documentation, and process improvement initiatives. The intern will support day-to-day IT functions while also assisting with structured projects related to security monitoring, access review, AI governance, documentation, and enterprise technology support.
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with IT team members to support departmental projects and initiatives.
- Assist with cybersecurity-related tasks, including log review, alert documentation, phishing analysis, risk identification, and security awareness efforts.
- Support access review, user account validation, group membership review, and related identity management processes.
- Assist with IT documentation, including SOPs, quick-reference guides, support procedures, and knowledge base articles.
- Help track and organize IT governance items, including AI governance, approved tools, training acknowledgements, and technology risk documentation.
- Support helpdesk and end-user support activities as needed, including ticket review, documentation, and issue follow-up.
- Assist with asset inventory, system access tracking, software inventory, and other technology management processes.
- Support field technology initiatives involving systems such as Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Teams, security tools, fleet technology platforms, and other enterprise applications.
- Other duties as assigned in support of IT, cybersecurity, operations, and business technology initiatives.
Experience and Skills Required:
- Pursuing a degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Basic understanding of cybersecurity principles, networking, Windows environments, and enterprise IT support.
- Familiarity with tools or concepts related to security monitoring, SIEM platforms, endpoint protection, phishing, threat analysis, or risk management preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to document work clearly, accurately, and professionally.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and sound judgment.
- Strong attention to detail, critical thinking, and willingness to learn.
- Ability to work both independently and in a team environment while taking ownership of assigned responsibilities.
- Strong work ethic and commitment to producing timely, high-quality work.
Preferred Experience:
- Exposure to Microsoft 365, Windows, Linux, networking, scripting, Python, JavaScript, SIEM tools, endpoint protection tools, or cybersecurity coursework.
- Prior internship, helpdesk, security operations, documentation, or technical support experience is a plus.
Company will conduct a background check, MVR, and controlled substance testing prior to hire.
