Position summary: Roy Jorgensen Associates, Inc. is currently seeking a full-time Project Engineer to manage asset management inspections and quality control on roadway maintenance projects in the Austin Metroplex. This position will report to the Regional Manager and requires performing a wide range of responsibilities on existing and future O&M contracts related to contract required inspections, quality control and assurance, mechanical/civil engineering, planning work, scheduling/managing crews, roadway repair analysis, preparing project report submissions, interfacing with government Clients and adherence to all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, as well as Jorgensen Company policies and procedures. It is required to have a technical background in engineering (mechanical, civil, industrial, etc.) or construction management from an ABET-accredited university. The ideal candidate must have proven experience as a leader working in an ever-changing environment, meticulous organizational skills, and analytical problem-solving capabilities. This position requires a “hands-on” type of Engineer that is as comfortable in the field performing inspections or leading work as they are behind a desk.

Divisional Project Sites (5%): Multiple Sites through region ans U.S.

Responsibilities:
- Perform contract required inspections and quality control inspections for in-house and in-house and subcontractor work.
- Coordinate with subcontractors and document progress.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly reporting packages for representation to Client and Corporate operations centers.
- Offer technical support to other departments involved in the project's operations and maintenance to include use of Google earth, Arcgis, CAD, etc.
- Assist in the planning, design, and production of engineering drawings and calculations.
- Conduct data acquisition and analysis, researching alternative design approaches, and preparing reports and permit applications.
- Create business cases to evaluate the best options for highway operations.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Minimum 0-3 years' experience with engineering, project management, or construction management
- Bachelor's Degree Engineering or Construction Management, ABET accredited university
- Must have valid Driver's License
- Competency of Microsoft Office 365 suite software
- Ability to rapidly develop a competent understanding of technical roadway maintenance specifications
- Superior analytical and problem-solving skills, with demonstrated intellectual and analytical rigor
- Effective communicator at all professional levels and styles (verbal, f2f, messaging, phone, email, etc.)
- Ability to manage project field emergencies 24/7
- Ability to analyze field accomplishment data and prepare reports, statements, and projections
- Read and understand technical manuals, plans, specifications
- Ability to write documents (English) following prescribed formats
- Understand multi-step written and oral instructions
- Self-starter who can work independently
- Dependable and highly organized with business and maturity, discretion, enthusiasm, and positive attitude
- Ability to travel within Texas (Houston, DFW, Waco) (up to 25%) and occasionally outside State
Must pass criminal background check
Preferred Experience:
- EIT or PE License
- Computer experience with ArcGIS, PowerBI, Tableau, CAD, and/or MicroStation is preferred.
- Familiarity with DOT contract operations
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
