Position summary: Roy Jorgensen Associates, Inc. is currently seeking a full-time Project Engineer to support operations at projects located in the Austin, TX area. This position will be responsible for supporting, assisting and guiding project operations from an engineer’s standpoint and adherence to all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, as well as Jorgensen Company policies and procedures.

Essential Job Accountabilities:

80% of daily work assignments will be field engineering and inspections (outdoors, along a highway/roadway)
Manage project engineering activities controls to ensure compliance with contract, schedule, and forecasting
Develop and maintain project schedule to ensure work is completed on time
Manage project engineering assignments
Provide technical support in planning, quality control, interpretation of design, application of construction methods, resolution and documentation of design conflicts, and construction reviews to ensure successful job completion
Develop, implement and administer project engineering procedures and other work controlling documents to ensure clarification of roles
Represent company, project and/or department during client and project management meetings to ensure effective communication
Develop and maintain all job reporting and logs to ensure project compliance
Supervise, direct, and mentor project staff to ensure individual development and that project standards are met
Maintain company standards for background checks (i.e. criminal record, driving record and controlled substance/drug testing)
Knowledge of local driving rules and regulations
Carry out complex arithmetic functions
Maintain proper safety equipment required for each job
Neat, clean and presentable appearance
Knowledge and ability to quickly adapt to the latest technology
Ability to use and support smart phones and applications
Ability to adjust to changing work schedule
Ability to work safely under ranging environmental and weather conditions
Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds; strenuous manual labor may be required
Shows strong commitment to the company culture and proves to be a champion of our initiatives
Comfortable working in the field and getting along with construction and maintenance personnel
Travel required 50% (up to 75%, 2 weeks in field – 2 week in office)
Ability to relocate for the right opportunity within Texas.

Required Experience:
1-2 years (no more than 3 years) of experience

Preferred Experience:
EI certification and PE certification
Roadway maintenance experience

Qualifications:
Must speak Spanish (read, write)
Civil Engineering degree from an ABET-accredited college or university
Maintain company standards for background checks
Knowledge of local driving rules and regulations

Schedule:
Full time; Day shift. M-F 7:30am – 4pm. Must be flexible to work nights, weekends, and snow/ice events.
